Fromagerie’s food & wine philosophy is centered around
the French term terroir, meaning that the characteristics of produce
and meat take on the characteristics of the land, or “terre.”
Terroir is the heart of the French owner’s delight, cooking
and eating the food that surrounds you. So despite it's French
name, ownership, and attitude, La Fromagerie offers the best local
and American farmstead cheeses and meats.
The Shop
La Fromagerie brings
a “farm to shop” approach to Alexandrians by purchasing
directly from farmers or their trusted suppliers. We believe in
sustainable and responsible methods of farming and are proud to
support American artisan cheese making.

Bistro
La Fromagerie’s
Bistro is the perfect place to enjoy a cheese and meat plate with
a glass of wine in a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Owner and Chef
Sebastien Tavel bases his elegant, light fare menu around fresh
seasonal food available from local farmers, particularly the heirloom
and forageable produce that help support the biodiversity of our
area.
